Celebrating with Purpose: Hasbro’s Centennial Fan Choice Campaign

Celebrating with Purpose: Hasbro’s Centennial Fan Choice Campaign

In honor of Hasbro’s centennial, Alan Hassenfeld and the Hassenfeld Family Foundation will donate $1 Million to purpose-driven charities, and we are empowering our fans to choose how these dollars are distributed. Each purchase on Hasbro Pulse will allow fans to vote for how to distribute $1 Million among the charities described below.

We’ve selected four cause areas that align with Hasbro’s purpose and 100-year legacy of giving back to the community. These cause areas and charities include:

Access to Play – bringing toys and games to children & families in need

Toys for Tots, a 76-year national charitable program run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, provides happiness and hope to less fortunate children during the holidays and beyond.  The toys, books and other gifts collected and distributed by Marines and volunteers offer these children recognition, confidence and a positive memory for a lifetime.  We believe it is such experiences that help disadvantaged children become responsible citizens and caring members of their community.

Play Makers – empowering game creators to tackle real-world challenges

Games for Change is the largest global nonprofit and community dedicated to using games to make the world a better place.
For 20 years, Games for Change has championed the idea that games have power beyond entertainment and supported the growth of a global games for good community. Through the annual Games for Change Festival and other events and programs taking place year-round, Games for Change empowers game creators, players and innovators to use games to tackle real-world challenges, from humanitarian conflicts to climate change and education.

Play Relief – providing exceptional pediatric healthcare

Hasbro Children’s Hospital is the only children’s hospital in Rhode Island and is an academic medical partner with the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Their doctors and care teams are highly trained specialists practicing world-class medicine using a patient and family-centered care philosophy. The hospital is the only certified Level 1 pediatric trauma center in the region and every day they treat hundreds of children who rely on Hasbro Children's Hospital for the very best care available.

Playing with Purpose – environmental sustainability focused on global reforestation

One Tree Planted is a nonprofit that is on a mission to make it simple for anyone to help the environment by planting trees. Their projects span the globe and are done in partnership with local communities and knowledgeable experts to create an impact for nature, people, and wildlife. Reforestation helps to restore forests that have been degraded or deforested, provides jobs for social impact, and restores biodiversity habitat. Many projects have overlapping objectives, creating a combination of benefits that contribute to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
