Driven by Passion
In the film "Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi", The Khetanna was a luxury, 30-meter sail barge owned by Jabba the Hutt that carried a massive transport of up to 500 passengers and 26 crew members. Complete with 3 decks, the Sail Barge was primarily used to transport passengers on extended trips across the dunes on the planet, Tatooine. Most notably, the Sail Barge was the site of Jabba's demise at the hands of Princess Leia Organa and her cohorts.
Measuring approximately 4ft long, this vast vehicle is a dream item for any Star Wars collection. Designed to captivate and inspire, The Vintage Collection Jabba's Sail Barge (The Khetanna) features exquisitely detailed, fan accessible decks that complement 3.75-inch figures (not included) allowing fans and collectors to recreate intense battles in the Star Wars saga. Its removable side panels also offer a unique opportunity to pose and set up incredible dioramas. Complete with premium deco, vintage packaging, and soft cloth sails, this dream product offers Star Wars devotees the quality and realism they know and love. Included with the vehicle is Jabba the Hutt and Yak Face (3.75-inch scale figure).

Bringing it to Life
The Vintage Collection Jabba's Sail Barge (The Khetanna) will go from a mere sketch to a must-have collector's item. The detailed process is contained in Jabba's Sail Barge (The Khetanna) Behind the Workbench Booklet, included with your purchase (subject to the campaign reaching its minimum backing goal). Here's a sneak peek:
Sketches, research, and conversations with Lucasfilm kickoff the design process. Since Star Wars first came to be, thousands of reference photographs have been captured and archived. Because earlier Star Wars films weren't as heavily photographed as more recent ones, Hasbro's design team, including Senior Principal Product Designer, Mark Boudreaux and Lucasfilm team up to capture missing "areas" of the design that fit into the Star Wars Story.
Using digital software, sculptors and designers begin to build a digital, 3D version of Jabba's Sail Barge that showcase views of the design from almost every angle. Because accuracy is of the utmost importance, when the designers are unable to find the reference images needed for a certain piece of the design, they will work with Lucasfilm to dig deeper into the archives or capture it in a way that fits into the Star Wars universe. Once the digital 3D version is complete, it's onto cutting steel that will produce the final product.
As the 3D data is made into the steel tools for manufacturing, the design team prints a 3D, 1:1 scale model to begin planning the masterfully detailed paint job. The Star Wars Universe being a worn, torn, and battered universe, it's imperative the vehicles reflect that environment with battle damage, oil streaks, and a roughed-up paint job.
Using the painted model, the graphic design team works to create beautiful photography to be used for packaging and any illustrations that need to be commissioned. Once approved by Lucasfilm, pencil designs are transformed into the final artwork.
During the final phase, the final model is created and packaged straight from the factory production line. Once approved, the factory ramps up its production line and the product begins its final journey to the homes of Star Wars fans and collectors across the country.
The Vintage Collection Jabba's Sail Barge (The Khetanna), complete with exquisitely-detailed and fan accessible interior/exterior decks, two soft-cloth fabric sails, and other realistic features that mimic one of the most notorious vehicles in the Star Wars universe.
